Jackets, Blackhawks In Seven-Player Deal

The Blue Jackets have acquired left wing Brandon Saad, defenseman Michael Paliotta and center Alex Broadhurst from the Blackhawks in exchange for forwards Artem Anisimov, Marko Dano, Jeremy Morin, Corey Tropp and a fourth round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, club GM Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.  

Saad, 22, has registered 52 goals and 74 assists in 208 career NHL games, helping Chicago win a pair of Stanley Cup championships in 2013 and 2015.

“We’re very excited to bring Brandon Saad, a 22-year old two-time Stanley Cup champion with great size, speed, power and the ability to score goals, to our organization,” said Kekalainen.  “He is a proven winner and exactly the kind of player we want as a Columbus Blue Jacket.”

Paliotta, 22, was Chicago’s fifth pick, 70th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft.  He spent the past four years at the University of Vermont (Hockey East), where he registered 19-64-83 in 144 games. 

Broadhurst, 22, was Chicago’s 10th pick, 199th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft.  He spent the past two seasons with the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
 
Anisimov tallied 40-44-84 in 168 career games with the Blue Jackets, including 7-20-27 in 52 games in 2014-15, since joining the club prior to the 2012-13 season as part of the trade that sent Rick Nash to the New York Rangers.  Dano was Columbus’ third pick, 27th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft.  He tallied 8-13-21 in 35 games with the club as a rookie last season.  Tropp was claimed off waivers from Buffalo on Nov. 28, 2013 and picked up 3-15-18 in 105 games with Columbus over the past two seasons.  Morin was acquired by the Blue Jackets from Chicago in exchange for defenseman Tim Erixon last season.

Coyotes Acquire Grossman, Pronger From Flyers For Gagner, Pick

Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired defenseman Nicklas Grossmann and the contract of defenseman Chris Pronger from the Flyers in exchange for forward Sam Gagner and a conditional fourth round draft choice in 2016 or a third round draft choice in 2017.

The 30-year-old Grossmann registered 5-9-14 and 32 penalty minutes in 68 games with the Flyers in 2014-15.

Rangers Trade Ryan Haggerty To Hawks For Antti Raanta

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the team has acquired goaltender Antti Raanta from the Blackhawks in exchange for forward Ryan Haggerty.

Raanta, 26, split this past season between Chicago and the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL. In 14 appearances with Chicago in 2014-15, Raanta posted a 7-4-1 record, along with a 1.89 GAA, a .936 SV%, and 2 SO. 

In 39 career NHL appearances over parts of two seasons, both with Chicago, Raanta has posted a 20-9-5 record, along with a 2.41 GAA, a .912 SV%, and 3 SO.          

The Rauma, Finland native originally signed with Chicago on Jun. 3, 2013.

Haggerty, 22, originally signed with the Rangers on Mar. 12, 2014.

Ducks Send Kyle Palmieri To Devils For 2015, 2016 Draft Picks

The Ducks announced today that the club has acquired a second-round selection (41st overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft and third-round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft from New Jersey in exchange for right wing Kyle Palmieri.
 
Palmieri, 24 , appeared in 198 career NHL games for Anaheim, collecting 43-46=89 points with a +11 rating and 90 penalty minutes (PIM). He also played 17 career Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Ducks, earning 6-2=8 points with 18 PIM. Selected by Anaheim in the first round (26th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Palmieri ranked tied for second among team leaders in power-play goals (5) and tied for third in power-play points (11) last season.

Ducks Acquire Anton Khudobin From Canes For James Wisniewski

The Ducks announced today that the club has acquired goaltender Anton Khudobin from the Hurricanes in exchange for defenseman James Wisniewski.

Khudobin, 29, has appeared in 91 career NHL games with Minnesota (2009-11), Boston (2011-13) and Carolina (2013-15). The goaltender has posted a 41-36-8 record with four shutouts, a 2.40 goals-against average (GAA) and .919 save percentage (SV%) with the Wild, Bruins and Hurricanes. Khudobin set several career highs in 2013-14 with Carolina, including wins (19), appearances (36), GAA (2.30), SV% (.926) and minutes played (2,084). In international competition.
 
Wisniewski, 31, scored 0-5=5 points with 10 PIM in 13 games with the Ducks last season.  Selected by Chicago in the fifth round (156th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Wisniewski has scored 53-221=274 points with 459 PIM in 551 career NHL games with the Ducks, Blackhawks, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens and Blue Jackets.

Rangers Trade Cam Talbot, Carl Hagelin

The Rangers made a pair of big trades on Day 2 of the 2015 NHL draft, including dealing goaltender Cam Talbot and pick No. 209 to the Oilers in exchange for picks No. 57, 79 and 184.

The Rangers also were involved in a trade with the Ducks, acquiring forward Emerson Etem and pick No. 41 in exchange for Carl Hagelin, pick No. 59 and pick No. 179.

The first domino in a hot goalie market has fallen, as the Senators traded Robin Lehner and center David Legwand to the Sabres on Friday. 

In exchange, the Senators will receive the 21st overall pick in the NHL draft on Friday night.

Bruins Send Dougie Hamilton To Flames For Three Draft Picks

The Bruins traded defenseman Dougie Hamilton to the Flames on Friday in exchange for the 15th, 45th and 52nd overall picks in the 2015 NHL entry draft tonight.

The former first-round pick (No. 9 overall) in the 2011 draft, Hamilton is a restricted free agent and is expecting to earn upwards of $7 million per season with his upcoming contract.

Kings Send Jones, Miller, Pick To Bruins For Lucic

The Kings have acquired forward Milan Lucic from the Bruins in exchange for goaltender Martin Jones, defenseman Colin Miller and the 13th overall selection in tonight’s NHL Draft, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced today.
 
Lucic is a native of Vancouver, B.C., and he appeared in 81 games last season for Boston totaling 44 points, a plus-13 rating and 81 penalty minutes.  Among Bruins players he ranked third in points, fourth in goals and sixth in assists.

Lucic has played eight seasons in the NHL – all with the Bruins. In 566 career regular-season games he has 342 points, a plus-94 rating and 772 penalty minutes. In 96 career Stanley Cup playoff games he has 61 points, a plus-40 rating and 155 penalty minutes.

Jones, 25, was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on Oct. 2, 2008. He has appeared in 34 NHL regular-season games (all with the Kings) and has a 16-11-2 career record, a .923 SV%, a 1.99 GAA and seven shutouts.
 
Miller, 22, was selected by the Kings in the fifth-round (151st overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. He has appeared in 135 AHL regular-season games with Manchester, registering 69 points (24-45=69), a plus-11 rating and 117 penalty minutes.

Avs Send 2016 Pick To Bruins For Carl Soderberg

The Avalanche announced today that the team has acquired forward Carl Soderberg from the Bruins in exchange for a sixth-round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft (previously acquired from Boston).

Soderberg, 29, appeared in all 82 games for the Bruins this past season, tallying 44 points. He finished tied for third on the Bruins in points, while also ranking third in assists. 

Originally selected by St. Louis in the second round (49th overall) of the 2004 Entry Draft, Soderberg spent his entire career in Sweden before joining the Bruins at the end of the 2012-13 campaign.  
 
The forward has appeared in 161 career NHL games, totaling 94 points. He has also added six points in 14 playoff contests.
